The International Association of EMTs and Paramedics (IAEP) successfully organized the dispatchers of Westerly Ambulance Corps (WAC) in Westerly, Rhode Island, adding twenty new members to the union this week.

The WAC Communications & Dispatch team voted unanimously to join IAEP Local 732 on Friday, which already represents their fellow EMTs and paramedics of WAC, granting the union exclusive collective bargaining rights for the group.

"The first responders of WAC came together to help their brothers and sisters in Communications & Dispatch," said IAEP National Director Phil Petit.  "By voting to join Local 732, these first responders have protections under a contract from day one."

The Westerly Dispatch Center employees provide emergency medical services and fire communications for both Southern Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut. They handle 911 calls and dispatch resources for various emergencies.

Congratulations to the entire Local 732 for this amazing accomplishment and showing of solidarity!
